These terms cover our website and the paid myUSB.cloud remote access service. The free myUSBdrive software you install on your Raspberry Pi is covered by a separate End User Licence Agreement, which you accept when you set it up. Your privacy is covered by our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
This website (myusb.cloud) and the myUSB.cloud remote access service are operated by Linkive Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales.
- Company registration number: [COMPANY NUMBER]
- Registered office: [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS]
- Contact: [SUPPORT EMAIL, e.g. support@myusb.cloud]
By using this website, or by creating an account or buying a subscription, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The service
myUSBdrive is free software you install on your own Raspberry Pi and USB drive to run a private file and media server on your home network. The optional paid myUSB.cloud remote access service gives you a secure personal web address (for example yourname.myusb.cloud) and an encrypted connection, provided through Cloudflare, so you can reach your own device from outside your home.
You are responsible for providing your own compatible hardware, an internet connection, and the free myUSBdrive software. The remote access service works together with that software but does not replace it.
3. Your account
To buy remote access you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your login details and any two-factor authentication secure, and to be responsible for activity that takes place through your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Tell us as soon as possible if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Plans, prices and payment
The available plans and prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. Remote access is currently offered as a monthly subscription (for example the Remote Access plan at £3.99 per month). Prices include VAT where applicable.
- Subscriptions are billed in advance for each billing period and renew automatically until you cancel.
- Payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.). We do not see or store your full card details.
- We may change our prices. If a change affects your subscription, we will give you at least [e.g. 30 days] notice before it applies, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
- If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend remote access until payment is made.
5. Your right to cancel, and our money-back guarantee
Statutory cancellation right. As a consumer, you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of a digital service and receive a refund. Because remote access begins as soon as you set it up, you agree that the service starts during the 14-day period, and you acknowledge that once it has started you may lose this statutory cancellation right. This does not affect your separate rights below.
30-day money-back guarantee. Separately, and going beyond your statutory rights, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on any new subscription. If you are not happy, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] before the end of the 30-day period, and we will refund the subscription fee for that period. We will process approved refunds within 15 days of your request.
6. Cancelling and renewals
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard or by contacting us. When you cancel, your remote access continues until the end of the period you have paid for, and it will not renew after that. We do not charge a cancellation fee. Your local myUSBdrive on your home network is not affected and keeps working without remote access.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- break any law, or store, share or transmit unlawful material;
- infringe anyone else's rights, including intellectual property rights;
- distribute malware, or attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure;
- resell or provide the service to others as if it were your own without our agreement.
You are responsible for the files and content you store on and share through your device. We do not monitor, and cannot see, the contents of your files.
8. Service availability
We work to keep the service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. The service depends on your own hardware and internet connection and on third parties such as Cloudflare. We may occasionally suspend the service for maintenance or updates, and will try to give notice where we reasonably can.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if payment is not made, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice first. If we end your subscription for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund fees you have paid for service you have not received. Where you have paid for a year in advance, we will refund any unused whole months.
10. Our responsibility for loss or damage
We do not exclude or limit our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any breach of your legal rights as a consumer.
We are not liable for loss of, or damage to, data stored on your own hardware. You are responsible for keeping your own backups (we recommend keeping at least three copies, on two types of media, with one kept in a separate location). We only supply the service for domestic and private use, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, or business interruption.
Except for the liabilities that cannot be limited (described above), our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the [e.g. 12 months] before the claim arose.
11. Your legal rights
As a consumer you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including that a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. For more information, contact your local Citizens Advice or visit citizensadvice.org.uk.
12. Changes to the service or these terms
We may improve or change the service, and we may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or how the service works. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give you reasonable notice, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
13. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for failures or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as failures of third-party networks or infrastructure, power or internet outages, or other events of force majeure.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you will also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. How to contact us
For questions about these terms, your account, or the service, email us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] or write to us at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS]. If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to put things right.
